HIV
/ AIDS
The
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
is the causal agent of the disease known as AIDS.
The Acquired Immuno Deficiency syndrome develops following an infection
with the virus, often many years later.
Infection
with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus
may pass silently with mild symptoms of fever, general weakness,
a rash and swollen glands. Without a blood test and confirmation
of the infection, the HIV develops
into AIDS unnoticed. At this AIDS stage
the individual may present with tiredness, weakness, poor appetite
and may report loss of weight. Other symptoms may include ulcers
in the mouth or genitals, frequent infections including pneumonia
and thrush. If your partner has been diagnosed with
HIV or AIDS
please come for a check up so we can advise you accordingly. There
is usually an early incubation period when the test may be negative
while the infection is developing in the body.
